Sylheti rivers

The district sylhet is bounded by khasia ,jaintia and cachar hills with gradual slope towards the centre and west. The river Barak,rising in the southern slopes of the NaGA hills of India flows southward through Manipur and turns northward rounding Wanga range and from a little to the east of Silcha,it flows westward and enters into Pakistan in the district of sylhet.Near the international boundary it divides itself into two branches,the Surma and The Kushiyara,which are the principle rivers of the district.
